More Than Meets the Eye....
Well James' 3rd birthday is coming up, in July, he will be 3 years old. If anyone has or has ever had a 3 year old, you know how indecisive they are. But then again, who really allows a 3 year old to make any decisions? I took it upon myself to give James the option to choose his theme for his birthday party. BIG mistake... HUGE. Joe, James and myself walked into Party City. Now the reason I chose to go there was because one, I received an ad in the mail that they were having 50% of the tableware and two, the ad also included a $10 off coupon when you spent $30 or more. I thought "hey, not bad". So we walk in and James' eyes were as big as the bouquet of balloons he was eyeballing. We find the isle that has all the kid birthday themes and we literally were there for an hour going up and down the same isle. James could not decide what he wanted. At first he wanted Spider-man. Then it was Batman, then Diego, then it was Transformers. This went on and on and on....I was getting frustrated. So FINALLY after all this time he decides Transformers, which by the way really surprised me because he is afraid of the movie. So I explained to him several times that once I pay for this stuff that I could not change his birthday theme to something different. With his sweet voice he said "OK mommy, I want Transformers for my Happy Birthday." We go to the register and he said "look what I see". He was starring at all the character balloons. I could have predicted what happened next but I tried to give James the benefit of the doubt. He said "mommy, I want a Spider-man birthday". ahhh! At that point, I officially took his decision making privileges away. The worst part is that I ended up paying $50 for plates, napkins and invitations and couldn't even use the darn coupon. My point to this is 3 year olds don't have decision making skills and taking a 3 year old to pick his birthday theme is *more than meets the eye*. (I had to use this, he picked a Transformer theme).
